1. COSTS

The participation fee is 620 euros. Participants are also expected to pay for their travel costs to and from Helsinki and cover their local travel and living expenses during their stay in Finland. Travelling costs to and from workshop cities as well as all the excursions are included in the price. Living costs in Finland are generally comparable to those in Western Europe.

2. ACCOMMODATION

For the first three / four nights in Helsinki we have made a provisional reservation for the participants at Hostel Academica. It is centrally located and has got good bus connections to Aalto University's Otaniemi Campus. The price for a bed in a shared room (3 persons) is around 30 euros / person. The rooms are equipped with bed linen, towels, showers, toilet and a small kitchenette. Morning sauna and VAT are included in the price. A discount of 10 % per night is granted for all members of Hostelling International and students with an international student card. There is also breakfast available at the hostel, it costs 7€.

Please note that the "official" programme begins on Monday 8th August at noon and ends with a final presentations seminar on Saturday 20th August. There are vacant rooms at the Hostel up to the end of August, but please remember to book any additional nights in advance! Please note that booking and confirming of hostel accommodations must be done by the students themselves. When making your reservations, please mark it with the code "IFHP 2016". In the workshop cities, Jyväskylä and Rauma, the accommodation is organised by the summer school and it is included in the course fee.

3. DINING AND SHOPPING

Dining varies a lot of course. You can spend to a meal anything from some 6–7 Euros upwards depending on your budget. The sleeping quarters in Jyväskylä and Rauma are usually equipped with kitchenettes at free disposal for the participants. Shopping daily requirements follows a general Western European average standard.

4. TRANSPORTATION

During the Summer School travel from Helsinki to workshop cities and back by charter bus is free of charge. Also the guided bus tour during the “Helsinki Day” is included in the price of the course, as well as local bus tours in Jyväskylä and Rauma.


 

5. STUDY CREDITS

The course entitles participants to five (5) ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits. This includes all the work done during the summer school, and individual task and some reading and studying to be done before the course. Students may negotiate a credit with their university, as many have done in previous years.

6. REFERENCES & WORK SAMPLES

Not required. (Except for your CV for the application.)

7. COMPUTERS

There will be a computer available in the workshops for scanning and file management, but it is highly advisable to bring your own laptop with you.

8. FINANCIAL SUPPORT

We are unfortunately not in the position of granting any scholarships or other subsidies. You might have a chance of obtaining some allowances or scholarships from your own university or a non-profit foundation in your home country or any international cooperation programme supporting students' exchange. The possible allowances will not affect the selection of participants in any way.

9. EMPLOYMENT SERVICE, PRACTICAL WORK TRAINING, INTERNSHIP

We have no possibilities to arrange for any sort of additional employment in connection to the Summer School.
